ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
St Thomas Stationers supply a broad range of office supplies, business machines and office furniture to business customers both large and small in all fields of industry. It is our aim to minimise the environmental impact of our services without detrimentally affecting our ability to meet our customer’s needs. Our commitment to Carbon Smart and the So-Go-Eco programme has become a fundamental part of how we run our business at an operational level. Following on from our success in reducing our carbon footprint from 17.56 Tonnes CO2e per annum (as at Sept 2008) to 14.96 Tonnes CO2e per annum we have now further reduced our carbon footprint down to 13.2 (as at Sept 2011). We will continue to commit to the follow objectives:-
1. We will aim to further reduce our carbon footprint by 2% in the coming year.
2. Our vehicle fleet no longer represents our largest impact on the environment as following our success using alternative fuels we have further reduce our emissions by maximising efficiency of our vehicles through a programme of driver training and increased vehicle checks and will continue to uphold this programme.
3. Energy usage in our offices and warehouse has been substantially reduced and we will continue our programme to achieve further savings. We will also look to establish whether any funding is available for investing in energy efficient technology.
4. We aim to re-cycle and re-use all paper where possible eg as note paper for internal use. A duplex printer has been purchased and is now being utilised to reduce paper usage.
5. Using recycled products wherever possible. We will continue to promote e-mailed documentation where practical.
In order for these objectives to be achieved good lines of communication both with our staff and our customers will be essential. Internally this is achieved by regular discussions and as we are a small company these will be on an informal basis. Externally this policy will be published on our website and attached to our account application form for new customers.
